Some of Esther's most cherished childhood memories revolve around food. Her father, a senior executive of an international airline, often traveled to the worlds most renowned culinary capitals with Esther in tow. Esther recounts eating at some of the finest restaurants and most notable cafes in cities like Paris and New York. As one might expect from any childhood memory, she vividly recounts the desserts her father ordered, such as crème brûlée and chocolate Soufflé. These experiences formed Esther’s attraction and eventual love affair with fine food, but more importantly her passion for desserts.

A self-proclaimed “dessert geek”, Esther especially enjoys creating subtle, naturally sweet flavors that can be savored more thoroughly. Inspired by world famous bakers, Esther endeavors to change how people perceive desserts. She equates the rich, overstated sweetness of most desserts after a fine dinner to playing AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell” at the end of a playlist of Nora Jones love songs. Esther prefers to blend delicate sweet notes with the natural, pure flavors of fresh fruits, chocolate, and other ingredients, thus creating a soothing, yet sensual conclusion to a fine meal or event.

With the birth of her first of two children, Esther began experimenting with desserts that her kids enjoyed, as well as her family and friends. Overwhelmingly, everybody loved the cupcake recipes and designs that Esther created. They especially enjoyed the blend of wholesome ingredients, such as fresh butter and cream with locally grown fruits. Much like her children, Esther discovered that her cupcakes could be dressed up, yet were fun and instantly loved upon their arrival at any event. After a few years in her test kitchen developing and refining a collection of unique cupcake flavors, she opened Esther’s Cupcakes.
